Macbeth
(Performed in August, 2006)
Under the name Urban Rogues Theatre Company, our inaugural production was an innovative reimagining of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, mounted for three weeks at Pacific Theatre in August, 2006.
Adapted and directed by Victor Vasuta, the ensemble piece featured live thematic music and a streamlined story that brought the action to the audience. It included an original score, written by ensemble members Daniel Deorksen, Kayla Deorksen and Jessica Harvey, which was performed by the actors.
Central to the adaptation were the witches, who sculpted the arc of the play, providing scenic structures, music, and sound effects. The production sought to illustrate and unmask the unlikely faces of tyranny in modern society. It featured performances by Kayla Deorksen, Daniel Deorksen, Evan Frayne, Jessica Harvey, Sarah Holden-Boyd, T-Roy Kozuki, Keegan Macintosh, David Newham and Ashley O’Connell.
