A Bucky Lecture for the 21st Century!
Based on the provocative teachings of R. Buckminster Fuller, one of the most original minds of the modern age, The Bucky Show takes a wild route, zig zagging across human evolution to illuminate how we – the crew of Spaceship Earth – got trapped in the mess we’re in, and our ability to “design” our way out.
Seven Tyrants Theatre is proud to present the The Bucky Show May 12, 13 and 14, 2011 at TELUS World of Science as part of the BC Year of Science.
“There is no energy crisis, food crisis or environmental crisis. There is only a crisis of ignorance.” – R. Buckminster Fuller
Richard Buckminster “Bucky” Fuller (1895-1983) – architect, scientist, philosopher, poet and inventor – is perhaps best known for patenting the Geodesic Dome and introducing the term “synergy” into the popular lexicon. When personal tragedy brought him to the brink of suicide, Fuller chose to transform his life into an experiment to discover what an individual could do to “make the world work” for 100% of humanity. He proposed that each of us is exquisitely equipped to fulfill a unique function in Universe, the significant realization of which would bring about a world of plenty and make war obsolete. Thrown out of Harvard twice, Fuller was awarded 48 honorary doctorates and over 100 awards of high merit.
Drawing from Fuller’s playful and meticulous scientific and socioeconomic analyses, The Bucky Show ignites the assertion that humanity possesses both the physical and metaphysical aptitude to chart our way clear of the present-day global crisis and prosper like never before.
“That the Universe tolerates our protracted nonsense suggests significant unrealized potential.” – R. Buckminster Fuller
